digital-physical poster

silkscreen poster with single channel display, mixed media

〈Strange Interface〉 connects the boundary between physical and digital media in a new way — an ongoing work that devises strange visual instruments through which the human body and the system come into relation. Through an interface of a new kind, it expands the possibilities of the medium.

The whole setup: a silkscreen poster clamped to a lab stand, a hand pressed to its printed surface, cables running from the sheet down to equipment on the table.
The poster is held upright in clamps and wired at its foot.
Closer view: the hand flat against the dense circuit-like graphic printed on the sheet, a banded strip of print running below it.
The hand meets the work at the printed surface.
The printed graphic: a dense field of stepped horizontal strokes and torn edges filling a square, with a second banded panel below it, registration marks at the corners.
Printed graphic, with registration marks as sent to the screen.
